About the Role

This is an opportunity to build your own independent research profile while contributing to the research of WMG and its partners, in the areas of Extended Reality, Visual Computing, Human-Computer Interaction, Human-AI Interaction, and Applied (Generative) AI. You will conduct research on interactive, immersive experiences for everyday personal and professional contexts, and on the AI methods that enable them in real-world settings, such as scene understanding, object recognition, and language-based interfaces. You will work as part of an interdisciplinary research group, collaborating with colleagues across the University and with external partners. Application domains include manufacturing, health, and the creative industries.

About You
- The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Human-Computer Interaction, Engineering, or a closely related discipline, with a publication record in leading Extended Reality, Human-Computer Interaction, or AI and visual computing venues on the design, implementation, or evaluation of immersive, interactive systems.
- They will have expertise in developing and evaluating interactive immersive systems that use state-of-the-art XR and AI technology, such as generative models, vision-language models, or computer vision.
- The successful candidate will work effectively in an interdisciplinary research team, combining leadership with excellent written and oral communication skills, and will encourage and mentor the next generation of talent.
