About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Operations Manager to play a pivotal role in the day-to-day running of a busy and ambitious department. This is a varied, fast-paced position at the heart of departmental operations, providing support across research, finance, HR, facilities, governance and projects.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and proactive individual who enjoys solving problems, improving processes and getting things done.

About You

You will be a highly organised and solutions-focused professional with experience of line management or team leadership and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality services. Comfortable working in a complex environment, you will be able to manage competing priorities, analyse issues, develop practical solutions and build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

 

Most importantly, you will be proactive, adaptable and able to work with considerable autonomy, taking ownership of challenges and driving improvements while working collaboratively as part of a team.

About the Department

This is an excellent opportunity to join the vibrant Department of Politics and International Studies community.  

 

We are one of the leading departments of Politics and International Studies in the country, across teaching and research. We are ranked 49th in the world in the 2026 QS World University Rankings, and 4th in The Times/The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025. We have adopted hybrid working and Professional Services colleagues have the option to work from home for up to two days a week (pro rata). However, this is dependent on business need and there may be a requirement to come to campus for more days during busier periods.
