About the Role
The University of Warwick is seeking a Research Finance Compliance Manager to support the effective, compliant and business-responsive delivery of the West Midlands CreaTech Innovation Scale-Up Lab (WM CISL).
Working within the WM CISL team and in partnership with Finance, procurement, legal, programme and delivery colleagues, you will help establish and maintain proportionate governance, compliance and assurance arrangements for a major publicly funded innovation programme. You will play a key role in ensuring that funding is deployed efficiently, transparently and in line with funder requirements, subsidy control obligations, University regulations and good stewardship of public funds.
The role has a particular focus on business-facing funding programmes. You will help design practical processes that support timely funding decisions and a positive experience for participating businesses, while maintaining robust controls and clear evidence trails.
This is an excellent opportunity for a finance, audit or compliance professional who enjoys solving complex problems and wants to help enable innovation and growth across the West Midlands creative technology sector.
For details on the experience and skills required, please refer to the job description (link here).
About You
You will have current knowledge of UKRI and EU funder terms and conditions, together with experience of working in an audit, assurance or compliance function. You will have developed and delivered assurance testing, evaluated financial risks and controls, and contributed to the development of policies, processes or operating procedures.
You will be able to interpret regulations pragmatically and develop proportionate, delivery-focused solutions in a complex governance environment. Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to explain difficult concepts to a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders.
Experience of large-scale financial management systems—ideally SAP—is required. Staff management experience, process improvement expertise, experience of using technology or AI to interrogate data, a recognised accountancy qualification and knowledge of the higher education sector would be advantageous.
