About the Role

Education Operations has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Faculty Timetabling Officer to join our team at a time when we are looking to transform our approach to timetabling. As part of a pilot project, the role will bridge central and departmental professional services, allowing you to gain insights into the inner workings of a broad range of areas. As well as providing a key operational service, you will be responsible for designing improvements and contributing to the ongoing project to implement new timetabling software. 

 

Our goal is to deliver a service that reflects the University’s vision of ‘Excellence with Purpose’ by underpinning our service with the University’s core values. The post-holder will work closely with the faculty and departmental administrative teams and interact with the senior leadership of the departments to produce timetables that meet teaching requirements and to identify the approach that will optimise the timetabling processes and outputs.

 

The University aims to move to a more coherent and effective mode of operation for timetabling, and this role will be instrumental in exploring the possibilities and shaping our future direction. There is potential for the role to continue beyond the 1-year fixed term.

About You

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about providing an excellent experience to students and staff by creating timetables that enable them to thrive in their education experience at the University. The core focus is the creation and management of schedules, which requires patience, creativity, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work through complex data and scheduling challenges in a structured and methodical way. You will gain satisfaction from producing accurate outcomes and seeing complex pieces of information come together into a timetable that works for staff and students. 

 

The role is also key to our implementation of a new approach to timetabling at Warwick and you will have a keen interest in making improvements to administrative processes, as well as the creativity to come up with new ideas for how these can be delivered. This requires the ability to see beyond our current, well-established ways of operating.

 

This work will involve interaction with a wide range of staff and students. Alongside being comfortable with the use of technology and digital tools, you will need strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen empathetically, so that you can identify the best course of action in the face of competing priorities. You will have a passion for inclusion and diversity and the role will involve bringing in fairer timetable allocations for our diverse body of students and staff.  

About the Department

Education Operations is a newly established Directorate bringing together teams from Education Policy and Quality, Student Administrative Services, and Student Complaints and Academic Casework into a more connected and integrated professional services function.   

 

Our focus is on supporting excellent education delivery across the University by reducing complexity, improving consistency, strengtheninggovernanceand creating more seamless experiences for students and staff. We work across the academic lifecycle, from curriculum and assessment through to student records, casework, qualityassuranceand academic governance.   

 

The Directorate is being designed around end-to-end services, user-centred design, continuous improvement andsmarter use of data and systems.
