About the Role
ThinkHigher is a partnership of several stakeholders and are externally funded by the Office for Students on an annual basis. We work at pace and enjoy developing and managing evidence-led projects from start to finish within the academic year. We work with schools, colleges, universities, local authorities, businesses, charities and grassroots movements, such as Boys’ Impact.
This role as Logistics and Events Coordinator is central to the planning and coordination of ThinkHigher events and activities. You will support the effective delivery of larger events and activities, including campus visits, IAG activities and engagement with teachers and other education professionals. You will work closely with colleagues and partners to coordinate the practical arrangements and communications for events and activities, while also providing project coordination and support across other ThinkHigher projects.
The day-to-day work is varied and involves working with a wide range of partners and managing changing priorities. You may also be required to contribute directly to the delivery of events and activities. We meet as a full team a couple of days per week to ensure a strong teamwork ethic and appreciate the benefits of working from home or other third spaces to allow for deep working or flexible hours to fit around caring responsibilities.
For details on the experience and skills required, please refer to the job description (link here).
About You
You are an organised and proactive coordinator who can manage a varied workload and keep track of multiple priorities and deadlines. You will have experience of coordinating events, activities or projects and will be confident working with a wide range of stakeholders, including colleagues in universities and colleges, local authorities, schools and other partner organisations.
You will have excellent communication skills and be able to build positive working relationships with people at different levels and across different organisations. You will be confident communicating both verbally and in writing and will be able to produce clear and accurate information for a range of audiences.
You will have strong organisational and IT skills, with experience of using spreadsheets, databases and other digital systems. You will be comfortable working with financial information and have a high level of attention to detail. Experience of coordinating events or activities involving multiple stakeholders would be particularly useful.
You will be able to work independently, use your initiative and take a practical approach to solving problems. You will be able to work effectively under pressure, adapt when priorities change and manage competing deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work.
An understanding of higher education and widening participation is essential, as is the ability to build positive working relationships across organisational boundaries. Experience of working in higher education, schools or colleges, the public sector or a not-for-profit organisation would be valuable, as would experience of working with young people who face barriers to accessing or succeeding in education.
You will be passionate about equality of opportunity for young people and motivated by the opportunity to contribute to work that supports young people to make ambitious and well-informed choices about their futures.
Above all, you will be someone who enjoys working collaboratively, is willing to get involved in a broad range of activities and is comfortable taking a hands-on approach when needed to support successful events and programmes.
